the beginning
The inaugural meeting of Rocky Mountain Community Church was held on Sunday morning September 9, 2007 at the Denver Marriott South in Lone Tree, Colorado.
The meeting was less like a beginning than like a culmination of all God had been teaching me over the summer of 2007. Personally, I had given my last few church experiences mixed reviews and was wondering if my calling was to a local congregation. God used some valuable resources to lead me to the decision to begin our church: the wise counsel of friends and mentors, a few books on leading through change, several large portions of the Bible, the Holy Spirit’s promptings, and one long conversation with my wife!

Highlights from our first year include baptizing over 30 adults and children, a steadily increasing Sunday morning attendance and giving, the addition of passionate and talented new staff members, services at Christmas and Easter drawing over 400 people, and strong evidence that God has great plans for our church!  We celebrated our one-year anniversary at a local Lone Tree park with BBQ and music and lots of fun for the kids.

Year Two
Our second year started off with a bang!  A sermon series on finding and using your spiritual gifts got more and more people excited about serving the way God designed them to.  Christmas and Easter were once again HUGE celebrations and, along with the brunch afterward, drew over 500 people from the community!  A winter series on “Heaven” was both challenging and stimulating as well.  Puppet shows, Rockies games and the Wildlife Experience were also experiences that we will never forget.  It’s so fun not only to worship and learn with the people of RMCC, but to have a great time!

Third Year’s a charm!
We could tell right away that 2010 was going to be a special year.  Yes, our growth in attendance continued, but more than that… we found that more and more people were itching for ministry opportunities.  Our Community Care team added members and continued to bless friends and neighbors of RMCC, a budding Outreach team got to work adding service projects, Women’s Ministry flourished with many new activities and relationships, and a new Men’s Ministry leadership team set plans in motion for the rest of the year.

Perhaps the biggest news of early 2010 was the addition of D.J. Bosler, a pastor who would be taking the Children and Family ministries to the next level.  Bringing over two decades of experience to RMCC, D.J. has been a blessing and encouragement to the entire church.

Our goals and vision for our church are articulated more comprehensively elsewhere on this site, but when we hearken back to our foundations…our history…it is rooted in time spent reading, studying, memorizing and meditating upon the pages of Scripture. The rock upon which Rocky Mountain Community Church is built is none other than the Living Word of God.
